Year 10 - Science (Core)
Course Description
Year 10 science aims to impart the fundamental ideas of the main strands of science: biology, chemistry, physics, earth and space science, and the nature of science.
The course aims to develop a knowledge of the basic facts, principles and theories of science. Opportunities exist to learn about, and apply, the scientific method which is the basis of all problem solving. There is also the development of practical skills appropriate to science. Students are encouraged to recognise the importance of science in society, and to develop a continuing interest in science.

Pathway
The Year 7-10 science course provides students with a good overall knowledge of scientific principles and experimental techniques. From this course students can take up any of the science courses that are on offer at Year 11 (subject to meeting entry pre-requisites).
Assessment Information
There is a mixture of end-of-unit tests, practical tasks, research and presentation assessments throughout the year as well as an end of year examination.Disclaimer
