Year 7 - Digital Technology

Course Description

Students will learn a range of digital skills both purposeful for continuation of the digital technologies courses, and generic for assistance in a more digitally inclined world.

Students will begin with learning digital design skills using a variety of software and techniques. The following term students will learn more purposeful spreadsheet techniques and formulas for use in everyday school work and beyond. Students will be assessed on their ability to use and create effective plans for the development of their final spreadsheet also. Term 3 will contain entry level programming in the form of Java programming using a software called processing. Students will learn programming fundamentals being well set up for continuing their education journey down either the NCEA or IB paths at St Peter's. Programming will also be employed in the final term in the form of writing algorithms to control robots to complete set tasks.
