Year 7 - Product Design
Course Description
This course provides students with a strong foundation in technology, problem-solving, and design thinking. Through hands-on learning, students will develop essential skills in perseverance, time management, and accurate measurement techniques. They will engage with the design process to explore and develop innovative solutions, gaining confidence in working with various tools, machines and materials.
Students will be introduced to key aspects of technological practice, including identifying needs or opportunities, conducting research, and applying planning strategies to manage projects effectively. They will learn to develop conceptual statements, test and refine design ideas through functional modeling, and produce final products that meet the requirements of a given design brief.
Throughout the course, students will gain experience in evaluating their outcomes against key attributes, considering both physical and social environments. By the end of the course, they will have the ability to confidently apply problem-solving strategies, utilize planning tools, and assess the effectiveness of their design solutions in real-world contexts.
