Level 3 - Psychology
Course Description
Psychology is the engaging and systematic study of human behaviour and mental processes.
Students will develop an understanding of the unique approach to understanding modern psychology while learning about psychological research and ethical considerations in psychology.
In this course students will explore how the psychological approaches interact with each other and develop further understanding of how theories are applied when practicing psychology. There is an opportunity to conduct psychological research in consultation with the classroom teacher. The Level 3 course has one external assessment where the student will study one issue present in psychological practice.
The topics within this course could include, but are not limited to:
- Aggression and antisocial behaviour
- Biological and sociocultural approaches to psychology
- Forensic psychology
- Mental health in New Zealand
Pre-requisites
There are no pre-requisites for this course.
Pathway
Clinical psychologist, educational psychologist, school counsellor, psychology professor, social service specialist, forensic psychologist, psychiatrist and medical doctor.
