Year 11 - Theology and Philosophy
Course Description
Although we don’t often realise it, religious themes run through so many of the major topics in movies, books we read, art, and music. The influence of religion can be on an individual artist or writer or large groups of people and even whole populations. In this course, students will be able to examine some common elements that artists and writers use to express themselves and enhance their creativity.
From topics such as good vs evil and heroes and villains to self-learning, students will have the opportunity to explore these themes, gaining a deeper understanding of the influence of Christianity and the sometimes hidden meanings in these major popular works of art, literature, and music.
Looking at different religious perspectives on life after death, as well as issues of morality and ethics, students will explore here also, how religious influence feeds into so many aspects of our lives.
