Level 2 - Mathematics - Statistics and Probability
Course Description
This course will be relevant to learners who wish to study statistics at Level 3 with a view to supporting studies at tertiary level.
This course seeks to enable students to:
- Further develop their understanding of the statistical enquiry cycle
- Plan investigations in forming and answering statistical questions
- Analyse data, communicate evidence from displays to reach a statistical conclusion
- Enhance the statistical tools, skills, understanding, and attitudes required in future careers
- Develop a variety of approaches to solving problems involving probability
Pre-requisites
Entry is at the discretion of the Head of Faculty. Students choosing this course will be expected to have a minimum of Securely at the expected level grades for linear algebra and either statistics and probability skills or exploration.

Pathway
Further study and careers in statistics are in many sectors, such as commerce, science, medicine, government departments, information management, quality improvement, and insurance. Most industries regularly require data analysis and research.
