Year 10 - Food
Course Description
This course builds upon junior skills and prepares for the transition to senior levels by developing an understanding of nutrition, advancing practical skills, exploring technological practice and investigating prospective career pathways.
Students will:
- Develop knowledge, understandings and skills for selecting and preparing food, and eating patterns that reflect positive healthy attitudes towards food
- Develop the skills needed to prepare food successfully and safely for themselves and others
- Explore industrial practices.
Pre-requisites
There are no pre-requisites for this course.
Notice of risk - students of technology courses should be compliant with all health and safety guidelines to protect themselves and others. Students failing to do so could be removed from the course.
Course Specific Costs
$50 per term - food and consumables. This is estimated on the current food prices and may fluctuate.

Food and nutrition can be used throughout your life for good health and wise food choices. Eating smart and healthily takes knowledge and practice. Food studies prepares students for creative, challenging, diverse and rewarding careers in the food industry, partnering well with business, science, health science, agriculture, horticulture, hospitality and tourism subjects.
