Year 8 - Mathematics (Core)

This course develops the understanding of number, measurement, space, algebra, graphs and statistics and seeks to enable students to:

• use multiplicative strategies with whole numbers, ratios, and equivalent fractions, and additive strategies with decimals and integers
• learn understanding, fluency, problem solving, and reasoning
• increase their practical knowledge of mathematics
• develop a variety of approaches to solving problems involving mathematics
• Investigate situations that involve elements of chance, acknowledging and anticipating possible outcomes
