Year 11 - Mathematics and Statistics
Course Description
This course seeks to enable students to:
- Think creatively, critically, strategically and logically
- Develop skills in structuring and organising, by carrying out methodology flexibly and accurately
- Analyse and communicate statistical information in a society that is technologically orientated
- Develop a variety of approaches to solving problems involving mathematics, and to develop the ability to reason logically
- Enhance the mathematical tools, skills, understanding, and attitudes required in future careers
- Enjoy intellectual challenge
Pre-requisites
A competent performance across the mathematics curriculum strands at Year 10 level, including passing the numeracy corequisite assessment.

A graphics calculator is required
Pathway
Further study and careers in mathematics are in many sectors, such as commerce, science, engineering, medicine, architecture, government departments, information management, quality improvement, and insurance. Most industries regularly require data analysis and research.
