Year 10 - Digital Technology

Course Description

This course aims to introduce students to a range of digital media outcomes through a variety of units.

  • 3D modelling - This unit involves students creating purpose-built digital models to be applied to a supplied brief. Students will also learn to follow the design process and prepare 3D models for printing.
  • Game development - Students will investigate programming fundamentals through the creation of a 2D game. Students will learn the fundamentals of game development including triggers, scene changing, and user input variable manipulation.
  • Robotics - Students will work collaboratively to create a robot and program the machine to perform in one of many manual or automated challenges.

Course specific software: Blender, Visual Studio Code, Unity Hub, Lego Mindstorm Ev3.

Pre-requisites

There are no pre-requisites for this course.


Course Specific Costs

Students will need a laptop, netbook or equivalent able to run open source software and be able to use web-based tools as required
Materials for 3D printing will be on-charged

Pathway

Computer science can be studied at university. It can lead to jobs such as: web architect, business analyst, software developer, network architect, computer animator, mobile app master, data miner, or usability architect.

Assessment Information

Assessment will focus on processes undertaken during the year and on the final projects presented.
