Level 3 - Health Studies
Course Description
The aims of the course are to:
- Develop students’ understanding of the impacts of the determinants of health on self, others and society
- Extend students’ ability to analyse and think critically about an ethical issue
- Analyse the underlying concepts of health in relation to various health practices
Course Overview
- Evaluation of global health issues, ethical issues, health practices and health promotion models
- Analysis of the implications on people and society of a New Zealand health issues
- Strategic development to address the consequences of a New Zealand health issue
- Compare and contrast the positives and negatives of New Zealand health practices
- Establish opposing perspectives and research to support knowledge
Pre-requisites
There are no pre-requisites for this course, but students must be interested in health and wellbeing.

$50- Guest speakers and health promotion
Pathway
Senior health provides the foundation for pathways to social and health sciences, including nursing, teaching, counsellor and psychologist.
Credit Information
You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.
